Who we are
Conceived in 2019 and then formally founded in 2023, the Nephrology Society of Fiji (NSOF) is a not-for-profit professional association, registered under the Charitable Trust Act in Fiji. We are dedicated to advancing kidney health in both Fiji and the Pacific region.
NSOF is made up of health professionals committed to the prevention and treatment of kidney disease. Our membership includes adult physicians, paediatricians, primary care doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, dieticians and dialysis technicians, amongst others. Our members hail from all over the Pacific region including Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand.
We are governed by a Board of Trustees, in addition to an Executive Committee which is elected by full members at our annual general meeting to serve a two-year term.
Objectives and Purposes
To promote and represent the practice of Nephrology in Fiji.
To advance the science and art of Nephrology in the Pacific region.
To provide a forum for Fiji health professionals to discuss and comment on matters affecting their practice of Nephrology.
To promote continuing professional development that provides for mutual assistance, exchange of information, continuing medical education, peer review and research in Nephrology.
To aid the selection, education and mentoring of health professionals in the specialty of Nephrology.
To promote ethical principles of Nephrology applicable to Fiji Nations and Territories.
To develop a close relationship with other medical colleges and societies abroad.
